9 Trending topics on Social Media that aren’t making me cringe
Because social media has been making me cringe A LOT lately.
What up faaammmmm.
I know I haven’t really been posting material lately but my gawwdd, I cringe every time I attempt to open the internet. Going on any kind of social media platform (minus snapchat of course) lately has been sucking away all remaining sanity and creativity left in me. I mean, I go to work and deal with fuckery 5 days a week for 40 hours or more. The last thing I want to do is spend ‘me’ time depressed because my news feed is traumatizing to look at.
Soooo, I’ve been high key avoiding everything social media related lately. I’ve become like that creepy uncle that will come on every few weeks and mass like pics/ distribute “spam”, then I disappear until it feels safe again. My friends know exactly what I’m talking about lol.
Even though we are grieving some great losses (Charlie Murphy and the Calgary Flames), World War III is in the making and live killing sprees are going viral on Facebook, all hope isn’t lost. I think it’s only right to build a collection of funny or inspiring things that I witnessed during hybernation. Lehh goo.
I watched a real life horror movie that savagely made white people uncomfortable…but all with good intentions of course ;)
I finally watched Get Out in the theater a few weeks ago, and the only thing that stopped me from watching it a third time was that I couldn’t find a good bootleg version online. Yo, can we talk about all of the effortless creativity and layers of truth witnessed in just under two hours. I literally spent like a whole day browsing different posts about all of the crazy symbolism in the movie. I’ll have to do my own analysis…maybe after the 7th time I watch it of course.
Serena pulled a Beyonce…
I loooveeee Sereeenaaaaa, even though watching her dance literally pains my soul…
Snatching a grand slam then going on snapchat to announce that she’s 20 weeks pregnant, sounds like someone’s been hanging with Beyonce a bit too much. But hey, the world forever finds reasons to hate on Serena, so this is just another one of those “middle finger in the air moments” for the haters.
Then there was Blaya.
Many of you probably don’t know who Blaya is, but she’s a Brazilian born dancer and singer that resides in Portugal. She’s basically like the Michael Jackson of Kuduro (a dance style that originates in Angola), and one of the craziest dancers I’ve ever seen.
Keep in mind, she’s about 7 months pregnant in this video. Not going to lie, when she dropped to the ground, my heart did the same.
Speaking of babies…
This video pretty much made my week.
It’s Festival Season for White people
Every online store that I visit currently has a “festival” section right now. I swear it’s like: let’s wear other people’s cultural attire/ dress like we’re going to the circus and hit up outdoor summer concerts high as shit. They call it festive, I call it stupidity.
Oh well, I’ve been having a good laugh still.
Are you sleeping on H.E.R.
So one day when it was dead ass slow at work, I started surfing Spotify and discovered this amazing artist that goes by the alias H.E.R. Maaaann, like her music gave me that early 2000’s Monica/ Brandy type nostalgia.
Pigment has been on replay for me, but be sure to check out other songs.
There were 70 percent off sales on Missguided and ASOS.
It started in about March and ended this week. Sorry if you missed out, because that shit was pretty lit.
*refuses to look at bank statements…
Oh yeah, bye Bill O’Reily
And of course, gotta remember one of the funniest skits to ever air on TV.
R.I.P. Charlie Murphy
Hope I made you guys smile today! Cheers to one more day until the weekend 🙂
